Mini Knit Mittens Pattern

 These mini mittens are knitted up quickly in any left-over worsted yarn. Great for the Christmas tree or that special touch on a gift. Make them in different colors or add strips. Just have fun!

Finished Size : about 3 1/2 inches

 

Yarn Used :

Carron Simpl Soft Eco

Color Used : Wine Country

 

Bernet Softee Baby

Color Used : Bongo Blue

 

or just any scrap worsted yarn will do!

You don't use that much really.

 

 

Needles & Notions :

US Size 3 Double Pointed

3 Stitch Markers

Stitch Holder

Yarn Needle

Row Counter if needed

 

 

Abbreviations :

K = Knit

M1 = Make 1 Stitch

PM = Place Marker

SM = Slip Marker to Next Needle

K2Tog = Knit 2 Stitches Together

CO = Cast On

2 X 2 Ribbing = K2, P2 to end.

 

 

Pattern

 

Cuff :

Leaving a 6" - 10" cast on tail, (to tie mittens together when done) you can always cut it later, depending on how long you want it to be, I tied mine so that one side was a little longer than the other.

 

CO 20

PM, Join for knitting in round.

 

2 X 2 Ribbing for 1"

 

Setting Up For Thumb :

Row 1 : Knit

Row 2 : K13, PM, M1, K1, M1, PM, K6.

Row 3 : Knit

Row 4 : K13, SM, M1, K3, M1, SM, K6.

Row 5 : Knit

Row 6 : K13, SM, M1, K5, M1, SM, K6.

Row 7 : K13, remove marker, place 7 stitches on stitch holder, remove marker, k6.

Row 8 : K13, M1, K6. (20 Stitches)

Row 9 : Knit

 

Knit every row til mitten measures 2 1/2" or desired length.

 

Shaping Top (Dec.) :

 

Row 1 : K2, K2Tog, to end.

Row 2 : Knit

Row 3 : K1, K2Tog, to end.

Row 4 : Knit

Row 5 : K2Tog, to end.

 

Cut yarn, weave through remaining stitches.

 

Thumb :

 

Place 7 stitches from holder on 3 DPNs evenly.

Row 1 : M1, Knit to end.

Row 2-4 : Knit

Row 5 : K2Tog, to end.

 

Cut yarn, pull through remaining stitches.

 

Finishing

Weave in ends.

 

Start on Mitten 2.
