US Size 10.5 Straight & Double Pointed (DP)

Yarn Needle

Row Counter if needed

 

 

Abbreviations :

K = Knit

P = Purl

CO = Cast On

DPNs = Double Pointed Needles

 

K2tog = knit 2 st. together

 

C4F = slip next 2 st. on cable needle hold at front of work, knit next 2 st., than knit 2 st. from cable needle

 

C4B= slip next 2 st. on cable needle hold at back work, knit next 2 st., than knit 2 st. from cable needle

 

 

Pattern  

 

CO 12

 

Row 1 : K to end.

Row 2 & all even rows : Purl

Row 3 : K2, C4F, C4B, k2.

Row 5 : knit.

Row 7 : k2, C4B, C4F, k2.

Row 9 : knit

Row 11 : k2, C4B, C4F, k2.

Row 13 : knit

Row 15 : K2, C4F, C4B, k2.

Row 16 : purl.

 

Rep these 16 rows til piece measures around your head comfortably. Makes the perfect fit.

 

Sew ends together.

 

With DPNs pick up and knit 58 st. on one side.

Place maker, join for knitting in round.

Now knit every round til hat fits comfortably, about 2" from top of head.

 

Shaping Crown (Top)

 

Row 1 : k8, k2tog to end.

Row 2 and every alt row : knit

Row 3 : k7, k2tog to end.

Row 5 : k6, k2tog to end.

Row 7 : k5, k2tog to end.

Row 9 : k4, k2tog to end.

Row 11 : k3, k2tog to end.

Row 13 : k2, k2tog.

Row 15 : k1, K2tog to end.

Row 17 : K2tog to end.

 

Cut yarn and with a yarn needle, weave through remaining stitches, pull tight.

 

 

Finishing

 

Weave in ends.
