Materials and Tools :

180 or less of your choice of super bulky yarn

US Size 15 / 10 mm knitting needles

Tapestry Needle

2 - Buttons

Thread in matching color as yarn & sewing needle.

 

Abbreviations :

K 2tog = Knit 2 stitches together

P2tog = purl 2 stitches together

WS = wrong side

RS = right side

yo = yarn over

C4F = Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold at front of work, k2, k2 from cable needle

C4B = Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold at back of work, k2, k2 from cable needle

Instructions

 

CO 16, leaving a 12" piece of yarn.

 

Row 1, 3 & 5 : k2, p2, k8, p2, k2.

Row 2, 4 & 6 : k4, p8, k4.

Row 7 : k2, p2, C4F, C4B, p2, k2.

Row 8 : same as row 2.

End with a wrong side or even row.

 

Repeat these 8 rows 8 times or til piece measures about 19" long or desired length to go around head. This is the perfect time to custom size the headband to fit you!

 

Decrease

(WS) Row 1 : k2, k2tog, p8, k2tog, k2.

(RS) Row 2 : k2, p1, k2tog, k4, k2tog, p1, k2.

Row 3 : k3, p2tog, p2, p2tog, k3.

Row 4 : k2, p2tog, k2, p2tog, k2.

Row 5 : k2, k2tog, k2tog, k2.

BO

 

Finishing

Over lap the decreased end 2" or 3", with the 12" piece of yarn from CO, sew ends together.

Weave in ends.

Attach buttons with thread.
